From 21st April 2015, Google will change the way it displays search results on tablet and mobile phones.

With half of us using small devices, is your website responsive and fluid designed?

Orbit-Creative-Mobile-Friendly-Websites

We tweeted yesterday about the importance on having your website mobile friendly. This isn’t something new and over the past 5 years more and more Tablet (and Mobile) devices are being used to surf the web.

In view of this, Google has decided that as over 50% of search queries come from Tablet and Mobile; Google will reflect these results within their searches. After all, there is nothing worse than seeing a website that isn’t built for small devices.

The upshot is that if your website isn’t mobile friendly (i.e shrinks automatically to fit the width of the screen in a column view), then it will not be shown to the viewer within search results through tablet or mobile.

This has a significant impact as to how you receive traffic to your website, because unless your site is mobile friendly then you will lose over half of your current searches overnight from 21st April 2015.

Having taken a pro-active view from when we started developing websites, all existing customers are not affected by this latest Google  algorithm. However, if your website isn’t mobile friendly, then you should take steps now to address this. We are more than happy to discuss ways so that you can conform to the current web standards.

Knowledge Graph

On a different theme (but very much Google related!), Google is rolling out their search results via their new Knowledge Graph. Putting this simply, your social media channels are displayed directly next to your company information, enabling your social media channels to be included within the search!

We know that some of our customers really benefit from their social media interaction and this provides the perfect addition to tie everything together.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
